Part 1 – The Red String of Fate – Relationship Question – Horary Study
A Note on Ethics
Before we dive in. I want to clarify something important: I firmly believe it’s unethical to publicly share a client’s Natal Chart or personal reading! Especially without clear consent. That’s not just a professional boundary, it’s a matter of respect.
That said, this chart is a horary chart cast on a situational question ~ not a birth chart ~ and it does not reveal anyone’s personal info and birth data. The story that follows was shared with the full permission of the friend who posed the question, and they’ve given me the green light to explore it here as a study case.
Context
A close friend recently came to me with a question that many of us can relate to:
“What’s going on behind the scenes of this connection?”
They were referring to a relationship that had gone quiet in the physical world. No contact in the 3D, No messages, No visible updates. But the energetic thread between them? Still very much alive.
There was no drama surrounding the inquiry, no desperate need for validation, no impulsive desire to reopen communication. Just genuine curiosity. A need for understanding rather than reconciliation. So I cast a horary chart. What unfolded was a remarkably clear narrative that mirrored not only their emotional states, but the unspoken dynamic between them.
Chart Overview:
Scorpio Rising, Mars in Leo
The chart featured Scorpio rising, placing Mars as the significator for the querent (my friend). Mars in Leo, situated in the 9th house, suggested that their motivation was rooted in insight, not emotional neediness. This was a search for clarity, perhaps even a philosophical reflection on a past connection.
The Moon (co-significator of the querent and a vital timing indicator in horary) appeared in Virgo, close to the Midheaven, also in the 9th house. This placement reinforced the idea that my friend was not seeking emotional rescue, but rather intellectual understanding and closure through perspective.
The Moon–Sun Square: Misalignment Between Heart and Ego
Another striking aspect in this horary chart is the square between the Moon in Virgo and the Sun in Gemini. A mutable tension that speaks volumes about the emotional and energetic mismatch at the root of this situation.
The Moon in Virgo, representing my friend’s emotional state, is detail-oriented, grounded, and observant. Positioned near the MC in the 9th house, this Moon isn’t emotionally overwhelmed. It’s analyzing. It wants to understand, not necessarily to act. This is the kind of Moon that asks, “What’s going on here, really?” without needing to insert itself into the drama. It’s a clean emotional detachment that allows for clarity.
In contrast, the Sun in Gemini, located in the 7th house and conjunct Mercury, represents the other person’s sense of self, or at least their conscious awareness. But the square to the Moon shows a disconnect between their headspace and the emotional reality of the situation. The Sun here is curious, mentally active, and maybe even performative… concerned with appearances or words, but possibly lacking the emotional vocabulary to meet Virgo’s precision and depth.
This dynamic suggests, that even if communication were to happen now, it might feel slightly off. Like the two are speaking different languages. Not because they don’t care to understand each other, but because one is grounded in emotional analysis, and the other is stuck in a loop of mental abstraction and ego-protection.
It’s not a hopeless square. It’s mutable, after all, but it does highlight a need for inner alignment before mutual clarity can emerge.
The Other Person:
The 7th house, ruled by Taurus, described the other individual. Venus, their significator, was placed in Aries (a sign of detriment for Venus). Closely conjunct Chiron in the 5th house. The symbolism here was unmistakable. This placement spoke to a person grappling with vulnerability, self-worth, and a fear of emotional exposure. There was a clear inner conflict: a desire to express affection (5th house theme), but also a fear of being seen, of not measuring up, and of potentially causing harm through closeness.
The 7th house, the domain of the other party, is ruled by Taurus, making Venus their main significator. But Gemini also occupies part of the 7th, and with that, things get more layered.
Inside the 7th house, we find the Sun and Mercury in conjunction, suggesting that this person is heavily in their head, analyzing, rationalizing, possibly even spiraling through conflicting thoughts. The conjunction hints at a mental fixation: communication that is either long overdue or tightly guarded, and a self-concept being filtered through internalized ideas of how things should be said or handled.
Uranus in Taurus, brings disruption. There’s instability or sudden internal shifts, possibly insight breaking through denial, but the person is still not acting on it. Uranus in the sign of the slow, deliberate Taurus tells us: yes, the lightning is there, but the follow-through is… dragging its feet.
